Born in Brooklyn, he resided in Westfield for 39 years before settling in Toms River 12 years ago.
Prior to retiring in 1989, he was a Chemical Engineer for GAF in Wayne. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Lafayette College in Easton, PA and his Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI.
Gerard was a parishioner of St. Luke’s RC Church in Toms River and was also an avid golfer.
Surviving is his loving wife of 67 years, Marguerite Hope; 6 children: Kathleen (John) Jones of Orwigsburg, PA, Patricia (James) Heimlich of Long Beach Island, Marguerite Bowdish of Brick, Annette (Alan) Hergert of Westfield, Bernadette (Thomas) Harney of Brick, and Michael (Sandra) Haefeli of Beachwood; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marion Schroeder of Annapolis, MD; and 2 nephews: David & Joseph Maxcy.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:15AM at St. Luke’s RC Church, Toms River. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River.
