Harry Lamar Cutrer, 82, went to be with his heavenly Father Wednesday morning, July 10, 2013. Visitation will be held from 1-3 Thursday afternoon at White Funeral Home, Poplarville, MS. Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Thursday afternoon at White Funeral Home with burial following in the Poplarville City Cemetery. Officiating will be Brother Dean Miller of Central Baptist Church from Hattiesburg, MS.
Mr. Harry Cutrer was born March 19, 1931 in Magnolia MS to Hiram Harper and Carrie Carter Cutrer. After serving a tour of duty with the U.S. Army in the Korean War, Harry Cutrer married Sylvia Schultz. While having 4 children, with much perseverance and minimal education Harry successfully succeeded in establishing, owning, operating and managing his own sheet metal construction company for decades. Having completed his duties of raising his 4 children Harry felt the call to serve as a missionary in Russia, he devoted over 10 years of his life in the mission field after the Iron Curtain of Russia fell, and he was admired and highly respected for his devotion to being a Christian witness.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hiram Harper Cutrer and Carrie Carter Cutrer; his wife of 56 years Sylvia Cutrer; five sisters, Maggie Toney, Fay McQuillan, Morelle Gust, Mamie Chisholm, and Conelia McDaniel; and one brother, Ray Cutrer.
Survivors include two sons, David Kile Cutrer and Craig Harper Cutrer, both of Poplarville, MS; two daughters, Mary Kimberly McCall of Ponchatula, LA and Becky Marie Gibson of Wiggins, MS; two sisters, Bernice Curtis of Bogue Chitto, MS and Lela Foreman of MS; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
