When Duane Bailey walked into the room, those in his company felt his energy and spontaneity. This was just one example of who Duane was and how he impacted those around him. Duane was a clever person who always sought out the finest attributes in other people. It was as if Duane wanted to share all of their experiences, revel in their lives and celebrate their discoveries
Duane was born on July 26, 1979 at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon. He was the son of Joel Frank Bailey Jr. and Dorina Cecilia Bailey. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorina. Several years later, his father Joel married Jane Michaelson. Duane affectionately loved Jane and accepted her as his “mom”. Duane was quite humorous and always ready to tell a good joke, while some who knew Duane might describe him as an idealist, his friends and family understood well that Duane was always in pursuit of life’s endless possibilities and opportunities available to him. One of his dreams was to write and publish is own comic book, called Rage Comics.
As a young boy, Duane was able to empathize and identify with a vast array of people and personality types. This quality drew him into a diverse group of friends and acquaintances. He was almost always the first to jump in when it came to playing games or participating in other childhood activities. In his spare time he loved his train sets. Duane had the ability to find amusement with almost any activity he and his childhood friends shared. Assertive and outgoing, Duane was easy to know and demonstrated a deep concern for others. He always seemed aware of what was going on with people around him and throughout his life he made many friends. While growing up, some of his best friends were his cousins.
Duane left his employment as a laborer to pursue further education. He enrolled in an automotive school focusing on auto mechanics. As a small child, he loved to take things apart and put them back together differently. Duane was very creative, thus his interest in art. He was always searching to learn something new and adventurous. This led to his enlistment into the United States Navy. His basic training was in Chicago, Illinois. He was then employed by the Military hospital also in Chicago.
Duane Bailey passed away on July 4, 2013 at Legacy Emanuel Hospital. He is survived by his father, Joel F. Bailey Jr., stepmother, Jane Michaelson; brothers, Joel F. Bailey III of Middletown. OH; Philip J Bailey of More Reno Valley, CA; four sisters, LaRica Matthers of Cincinnati, OH; LaVel Matthers of Middletown, OH; Niekelia L Bailey Cincinnati, OH; Gwen Bartlett (Bill) of Roseburg OR., and a host of other uncles, family members and friends.
