Charles Andrew Harrison, 89, died peacefully at home of natural causes with his family by his side in Cary, NC on July 24, 2013. He was born in Honeoye Falls, NY on March 8, 1924 to John E. and Lottie M. Harrison. He graduated from Honeoye Falls High School in 1941 and received a BS in Business Administration from Indiana University in 1947. He attended Naval Officers Training School at Dartmouth College from 1943 to 1944 and as a Lieutenant JG served as an amphibious landing craft commander in the Philippines from 1944 to 1945. In 1951 he married his beloved wife, Doris Campbell. From 1945 to 1970 he was employed with Sears Roebuck, managing stores in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. After living in Cherry Hill, NJ with his family from 1960 to 1970 he moved them to Annapolis, MD to manage the Montgomery Ward store. In 1979 he left Montgomery Ward to manage the Hechinger store in Annapolis until 1991, when he accepted a position as a real estate agent with Champion Realty until 1993. He was an active member of the Calvary Methodist Church in Annapolis, and as an usher, member of the Staff Parish Committee and Sunday school teacher, he was a living testament of God’s love, touching many with his gentle spirit and encouragement. Many years after his retirement, family members would be greeted on the street by his former employees who would offer kind remembrances of his gentle ways. As a member of the Annapolis Rotary Club, he enjoyed multiple fundraising activities, including parking cars for his fellow Navy football fans at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and volunteering for the annual Annapolis Crab Feast. An avid skier, he enjoyed spending ski holidays with family and friends in Colorado, Utah, and Montana, fortunate to take advantage of the senior discount for many years. His main passion was his family and he will be remembered most for his infinite love for and devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren.
In 2011, Charles and Doris moved to Cary, NC to be closer to their daughter, Nancy. He lived there until his death.
