Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Bill Merritt Funeral Home Chapel with Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Robert B. “Bob” Heston, 88, of Oklahoma City, passed away July 28, 2013. He was born January 31, 1925 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Adrian and Hazel (Barnes) Heston. His family moved to Oklahoma City in 1928 where Bob attended public school and graduated from Classen in 1943. He proudly served our country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII, seeing action in the Pacific as a member of the 20th Air Force Head Quarters. Bob was a lifetime member of Linwood United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Oklahoma City Chapter of Petroleum Accountants Society and served one term as a member on the board of directors. In 1982 Bob retired from Devon Energy Corp. where he had been a member of the original board of directors for many years. He retired as Vice President and Treasurer of the Company. In 1951, Bob married Juanita L. Tinsley and between them raised three fine sons. He is survived by his three sons, Barney, Kent and his wife Kris, Barry and his wife Libby; two brothers, Adrian and Dick Heston; sister, Genevieve Goodner; Bob’s companion, Edie Chilcutt; eight grandchildren, Tracy Myers and husband Mike, Garrett Heston, Ryan Heston and wife Shea, Kelly Heston, Scott Heston and wife Pam, Kyle Heston and wife Sasha, Tyler Heston and Tinsley Heston; four great-grandchildren, Amber Myers, Kinsey Heston, Axel Heston and Hunter Heston. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita L. Heston; both parents, A.O. and Hazel and a great-grandchild, Kyleigh. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
