Henry was a native of Lacassine and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1949. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was an active member of the American Legion Post #179, serving as past Post Commander. He coached baseball for many years and is now in the Hall of Fame at Frasch Park. Henry retired in 1993 from Firestone after 38 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church where he served as an usher. Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, dancing, playing pool, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Steven Landry of Carlyss and Debbie Johnson and husband, Scott of Sulphur; one sister, Sara Trenton of Sulphur; grandchildren, Julianne Porter and husband, Justin, Ryan Landry, and Amber Johnson; great-grandchildren, Brycen Porter and Jacksen Porter; his niece, Michelle Godeaux; great-nephew, Kyle Godeaux; great-niece, Lauren Godeaux; and his companion, Winola Chaisson.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 1, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
