Dr. Beavers was born on November 29, 1917, the eighth of ten children of George Monroe and Daisy Olive Beavers of Wake County. He graduated from Wake Forest University in 1940 and received his medical degree from Northwestern University in 1944.
After service in the United States Navy in the Pacific theater during World War II, Dr. Beavers came to Greensboro to practice medicine with his brothers, Dr. James W. Beavers and Dr. Charles L. Beavers. He was a resident of Greensboro and Guilford County for 67 years and practiced medicine until retirement in 1979. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was outgoing and lived for helping others. He enjoyed livestock, farming, family camping trips, and watching the Atlanta Braves. He and his wife, Eunice recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Dr. Beavers is survived by his brother John R. Beavers, his wife, Eunice Brass Beavers, five children, Richard A. Beavers (Shari) of Greensboro, Carolyn Beavers Howell (Griff) of Goldsboro, Clyde E. Beavers of Lexington, KY, Dwight J. Beavers (Sharon) of Summerville, SC, and Gary W. Beavers (Kristie) of Cary. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Debran McClean (Scott), Elizabeth Donahue (Wesley), Kristen Haynes (Jimmy), Erin Pate (James), Bradford Beavers, Jordan Beavers, Garrison Beavers, Ashley Howell and Cameron Howell and three great grandchildren, Lucas McClean, Carson McClean and Olivia Haynes.
.Dr. Beavers was preceded in death by his parents, his three sisters, Jane Banks, Lydia Beavers, Alice Beavers and five brothers, James Beavers, George Beavers, Charles Beavers, David Beavers and Franklin Beavers.
A memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, August 25, 2013, in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, 1000 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC 27403. Following the service, the family will receive friends.
