He was born in Eagle Pass, Texas. on June 22, 1927. Fred was a World War II veteran and served as a fireman first class in the United States Navy. He was a retired AG Mechanic.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the fifth floor staff, the ICU staff, and Fred's team of doctors at VA Central California Health Care System.
Fred is preceded in death by his mother, Feliciana Hobbs; his wife, Mary Hobbs; and his daughter, Elsie Hobbs-Renteria.
Fred is survived by his children, Thelma Hobbs-Romero, David Hobbs, Lorraine DeMateo, Rosa Marin, Fred Hobbs, George Hobbs, Lawrence Hobbs, Edward Hobbs, Jessica Wash and Cynthia Lopez; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ida Breen, Betty Williams, Selma Mello and Joyce Carta.
Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary.
A Funeral Service will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 9:00 a.m, followed by interment at Belmont Memorial Park.
