Carreira, Daniel Joseph, 86, of Brandon entered into rest on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. He is survived by his four sons, Joseph, Daniel Jr., Andrew and Steve; two daughters, Debra and Cheryl; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Daniel was born in Ybor City on April 29, 1927, he was a lifetime resident. He was a carpenter for 16 years and educator for 27 years. He graduated from Hillsborough High School, a member of the Big Ten Championship Team and track team captain. He served in the Navy during World War II. He went to the University of Florida (was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity); a charter member of the University of South Florida, where he obtained a Bachelors in Secondary Education, Masters in Elementary Education, and a PHD in Elementary Childhood Education. After retirement from the Hillsborough County School System in 1979, he served as the Administrator at Tampa Baptist Academy where he retired in 1989. He was a Deacon and Elder at Tampa Baptist Church and Kirk of Dunedin for 45 years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Daniel’s name to Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace.
