Funeral service for James Roland Stamps, 82, of Anniston, will be 12:00 pm, Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Gray Brown-Service with Rev. Mike Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Dogwood Trails Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:30 – 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Stamps passed away on September 14, 2013 at the Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Martha Jones Stamps; sons, Kenneth Roland Stamps Campbell (Earline) of Talladega, James Michael Stamps Campbell of Irvine CA; daughter, Andrea “Angie” Stamps Prestridge (Billy) of Oxford; blessed with seven grandchildren, Paul Campbell (Amanda), Kim Campbell, Greg Campbell, Marcus Campbell (Victoria), Josh Campbell (Kristen), Jared Campbell and Zack Prestridge; seven great grandchildren, Dylan Ochoa, Ashley Campbell, Lucas Campbell, Autumn Campbell, Summer Campbell, Warren Campbell and Elaina Campbell; sister-in-law, Josephine Stamps of Centre and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of wonderful and very special friends.
Mr. Stamps is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie C. Stamps and Omie Stamps Stewart; granddaughter, Montana Cheyenne Prestridge; great granddaughter, Sophia Faith Campbell; brothers, Curtis K. Stamps, Jessie C. Stamps Jr., William E. “Boots” Stamps; sister, Myrtice Stamps Young.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Mr. Stamps was a devoted member of Leatherwood Baptist Church and is claiming his rich rewards. He was a Navy veteran, avid fisherman and dearly loved to trade. He was a former employee of M&H Valve for 33 years.
