Flora attended Bethel Public Schools and graduated from Bethel High School. She was employed for several years at the A&P in Danbury and then for 42 years by the City of Danbury in the Food Service Department at several Danbury Public School cafeterias. Flora married Merrill Robinson and shared 54 years of marriage before Merrill's passing. They raised two daughters, Susan and Dawn.
Flora was one of the original members of the Grassy Plain Drum Corp playing both the fife and drums. She continued to play her fife and use her drumsticks on any suitable surface well into her later years. Among Flora’s many other interests, she especially enjoyed cooking, baking, going to the casino, playing bingo and flower arranging, She and her husband also had a love for camping and camped for many years in Copake, N.Y. She also took great pleasure in teaching her grandchildren how to play poker.
Flora is survived by her daughters; Susan (Nello) Palma of Southbury, and Dawn (James) Lapan of Danbury, brother; Joseph Hawley of Pennsylvania, her grandchildren; Jessica (Steve) Festa, Rebecca (Geoff) Glickstein, Matthew Palma and Ashley Lapan, her great grandchildren; Estella, Cora, and Elise Glickstein, and Madeline Festa, . She was looking forward to the arrival of her fifth great granddaughter this upcoming December. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Flora was predeceased by her husband, Merrill, brothers, Amos, Charles, Franklyn, and Philo Hawley and her granddaughter Megan Lapan.

The family will receive friends at Green Funeral Home 57 Main St Danbury on Thursday, October 3rd from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m... Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 4th at St. James Episcopal Church 25 West St Danbury at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury CT.
