Sparta- Stanley A. Koza went home to the Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2013 in Hackensack, NJ. He was 74. Stanley was born in DuPont, Pa. to Peter and Rose Koza, raised in Newark, NJ, and has resided for the past 37 years in Sparta. He graduated from Seton Hall University in 1961 with a BS in management and returned earning a second BS in accounting in 1969. In 1971 Stanley was hired by Newton Memorial Hospital as Chief Financial Officer. He has served as Executive Director of the hospitals sister corporations, Prime Care Inc., North Jersey Health Ventures. He was a former Hospital Board of Directors member and former President of the Board of Trustees of the Hospital Foundation. In 1992, Stanley was named to the Board of the NJ Health Care Corporation and its corporations, as the hospital network restructured.
Stan has been very involved in his community through; Treasurer of the Board of Sussex County Farm & Horse Show since 1982, past President of the Newton Rotary Club (1992-93); Board member of Newton Rotary Endowment, Inc., Board member of Knoll Heights and Knoll View Senior Citizen Complex in Sparta; Board member of High Point Financial Corporation; Vice Chairman of the National Bank of Sussex County; President of the Sussex County Charter School for Technology; Board member of Sussex County Imaging, LLC, and Women’s Diagnostic Center, LLC; and Treasurer of Wes-Com Healthcare, Inc. He also served on the boards of Hospital Central Services, Inc. in Allentown, Pa; Medco Inc., Warminster, Pa; The Hospital Trust for Worker’s Compensation, Princeton, NJ and Signature Home Care of New Jersey, Cranbury, NJ. He was a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association; The National Society of Fundraising Executives; as well as serving as an usher for Our Lady of the Lake Church in Sparta. Stan was a kind and loving soul who cherished his children, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was founder of the Chocolate Goat in Lafayette, and he will be sadly missed.
Mr Koza is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Alice. A son; Peter Matthew Koza of Branchville, NJ. Two daughters; Jennifer Todaro (T.J.) and Stephanie Austin (Craig) of Fredon, NJ. Five grandchildren: Peter Koza, Jacob Todaro, Finn, Molly and Hanna Austin. Three brothers; Paul, Edward (Irene) and Peter Koza. Two sisters; Anne Drust, and Stella Koza.
Family and friends are invited Monday, 2~4 & 7~9 pm to Goble Funeral Home 22 Main Street Sparta, NJ. A 10 am Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday from Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sparta, followed by burial.
