Aug. 6, 1937-July 13, 2013. Born in Scranton PA, Paul served in the Air Force from 1956-1978. Paul was chosen for special duties to include working with scientists, foreign officials, and was instrumental in developing multiple policies for the betterment of the Air Force missions and quality of life for the troops and their families. He then set out to build the Butterly Allstate Insurance Agency for 22 years. He sold his business in 2000. Thirty-one years ago, Paul began a journey, one day at a time, as a friend of Bill W. His heart was abundant with gratitude for promises fulfilled and friends made along the way. He shared his experience, strength, and hope guiding hundreds in their lives. Paul met his wife, Gail Lucero, also retired Air Force in 2002. They loved traveling and embedded themselves in different cultures. In the 9 years of marriage, they toured China, Southeast Asia, Central America, the Middle East and Europe. Their adventures also included Egypt, Hawaii, the Caribbean, southern Mexico, and Panama. Paul loved his life as it was before the diagnosis of lung cancer exactly one year prior to his death. Paul and Gail were able to make their dreams come true together. They shared more love, commitment and passion for life than most people do in a lifetime. Soulmates to each other, keys to their marriage were spirituality, growth, and laughter. Paul's life will be celebrated October 20, 2013, 1:30 pm, at Eternal Life Lutheran Church, Mesa, AZ. In lieu of flowers, Paul asked that donations be made to the local Boys and Girls Club. He is survived by his wife, Gail, son Paul, daughter Judy Coker and grandson Dillion. Email [email protected] for further information.
