Tyler went home to be with his
Lord and Savior on Oct. 12, 2013,
at The Hospice of East Texas after a
short battle with renal cancer.
A graveside service with military
honors will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, in
Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery
officiated by Bro. Kurt Powell, associate
pastor at Flint Baptist Church.
Arrangements are being handled
by Tyler Memorial Funeral Home.
Raymond was born in London,
Ky., on Sept. 16, 1923, to Alamander
and Bettie (Cornett) Feltner.
Raymond worked as a brick
mason until his retirement. He enjoyed
carpentry and gardening as
a hobby, and loved to watch the
older western TV programs. At the
young age of 19, he entered the
U.S. Army during World War II, and
served with the 508th Engineers,
Light Platoon Company. He was a
pioneer assigned to Combat Engineer
Battalion in the European
Theater. He served in the following
battles and campaigns, Normandy,
Northern France, Rhineland,
Ardenes and Central Europe.
Pfc. Raymond Feltner served from
Feb. 11, 1943, to Dec. 4, 1945. During
this time, he constructed
bridges, repaired roads and
worked in mines. He also fought in
the infantry. He removed road
blocks and secured bombed out
buildings.
Raymond is survived by his
three children, Penny Reynolds
(Kennon), Tyler, Paula Lindstrom
(Joe), Grandview, Mo., Pamela Rutledge
(Justin), Lewisburg, Tenn.;
granddaughter, Clare Elisabeth
Reynolds, Manhattan, Kan.; sister,
Dessie Morris, Indianapolis, Ind.;
and other family. He also leaves
behind his dear friends whom he
lovingly referred to as “the girls,”
Connie Miller and Molly Still.
Raymond, the youngest of six
children, was preceded in death
by his parents; and four brothers.
