John Clarence Britton, 81, of Toms River is in heaven with his beloved wife and his parents. He proudly served in both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army for over 20 years, receiving a Marksman in the Air Force and the Army Commendation Medal, a Good Conduct Medal and a Bronze Medal in the Army. After retiring from the Army, he worked for the Toms River School System as a Grounds Keeper.
He was predeceased by his parents, John Britton and Mary Georgana Britton Walker; his brothers, Harry Britton, Frances J. Walker, Tommy Walker, and Walton E. Britton; and a sister, Patricia A. Soto. Surviving are a daughter Michele A. Hirsch of Davenport, FL; a granddaughter, Amor Helene Hirsch of Davenport, FL; a sister, Catherine Lebron of Puerto Rico; three brothers, Robert A. Britton of Toms River, Harry J. Britton of Toms River, and William A. Britton of Bayville; and two sisters, Myrtle E. Soto of Bayville and Barbara J. Bunnell of Bayville. He will be sorely missed by all.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday at Brigadier General William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
