John D. Daniel, 85, of Poplar Bluff, died October 13, 2013, at his home. Born March 12, 1928, in Garnett, Kans., to the late Namon and Eula Chronister Daniel, he lived most of his life in Bell City, where he was a self -employed farmer for over 50 years. A 1946 graduate of Morley High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of VFW Post 3416 in Wappapello. He enjoyed farming, fishing, reading, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was of Baptist faith.
He leaves behind one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Phyllis Daniel of Bell City; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and David Smith of Puxico; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Danielle and Brandon Clark of Puxico, and Cynthia and Jacob Turner of Wappapello; one grandson, Lucas Daniel of Bell City; two great granddaughters, Andrea Clark and Audrie Clark, both of Puxico; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Kathleen Powell of Greenbrier, Ark., and Melba Jean and Joe Dilday of Apoka, Fla.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with Bro. Justin Miller, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Puxico, officiating.
Interment will follow, with full military honors accorded him by the Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard.
