JIMMY "JIM" BAUMGARDNER, 66, of Fort Wayne, went to meet the Lord on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at his residence surrounded by loving family and in the care of the Heartland Hospice nurses. Born May 19, 1947, in Maryville, Tenn., he was the first son of Wanda June (Wolfe) Baumgardner and the late Fred H. Baumgardner. He served in the Marine Corp. as a Lance Corporal during the Vietnam War. After serving with the Marines, he worked as an inspector at Zollner Pistons for 34 years. He loved golfing, archery, hunting, and fishing. "He was such a loving husband and grandfather." Jim attended Grace Point Church and worked for Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home as a greeter. He was a member of Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and a friend of (Bill W.) for 28 years. Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Barbara (Smith) Baumgardner of Fort Wayne; brothers, Jerry Baumgardner of Fort Wayne and Jeff (Leigh) Baumgardner of Mobile, Ala.; sister, Judith (Glenn) Hobbs of Knoxville, Tenn.; children, Lauri Wearley and Doug (Yvonne) Wearley; grandchildren, Macy, Mitchell and Mia; 11 nephews; and six nieces. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Charlene Baumgardner; and his beloved dog, Samantha. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Rex Person officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.
