Richard “Dick” Nall Trant, 82, of College Station, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 13, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station, with Reverend Monsignor John Malinowski officiating.
Dick was born December 26, 1930 in San Angelo, Texas to Bessie Vera Nall and Emmett Trant. He moved to Bryan at an early age with his family and attended the Bryan Public Schools. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1948 and served in the Korean and Vietnam War. While in the Army, he met the love of his life Adelheid Weber in Ludwigsburg, Germany. He retired from the Army on April 30, 1969, after serving 21 years. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. After retirement from the Army, Dick worked for Tide Water Marine, becoming a Merchant Mariner, and attaining the distinction of “Able Seaman in Any Waters”.
He was a Life member of the American Legion Earl Graham Post 159, and the VFW Brazos County Post 4692, both in Bryan. He was also a member of the NRA, and a Life member of the Texas Rifle Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bessie and Emmett, and a sister, Dorothy Trant Dodson. He is survived by his wife Adelheid “Heidi” Trant of College Station; one daughter, Hannelore Trant Foshee and husband James of Grand Cane, Louisiana; one brother, Emmett Trant and his wife Betty of Bryan; granddaughter, Shaunda Alexander and her husband Neil; one grandson, Ray Foshee and his wife Zinah; two great-grandchildren Mallory Alexander and Kaleigh Foshee; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Florin, Dr. Ricardo Guiterrez, Dr. Anup G. Amin, and all of the dedicated nurses at St. Joseph Regional Health Critical Care Center for their love and careof Dick Trant.
