She was born in Camden, NJ in 1930 to her parents, Joseph and Margaret Moffa. After the death of her mother in 1942, she went to the home of her beloved uncle and aunt, Daniel Creato, Sr. and Nancy Creato.
Survivors include her husband, Rea T. Alsup; son, Geoffrey Alsup and wife, Teresa; daughter, Amy Aubrey; grandchildren, Joshua Aubrey, currently serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Ceara Aubrey, Alexandra Alsup, and Dane Alsup; sister, Lee Javens; brothers, Daniel Creato and Thomas Creato. She had two foster daughters from El Salvador: Lilian Valle-Azahar now of Louisville and Zoila Cortez-Senthilnathan of College Station, TX.
Dina earned the B.A. degree at College of New Jersey and the M.A. at University of Louisville. She was an elementary school teacher for 35 years, first in New Mexico and later at Norton and Wilder Schools in Jefferson County. She was fluent in Spanish and taught university classes in Central America and Spain.
She and Rea traveled widely through Europe, Latin America and to Japan when daughter Amy was there as a Navy wife.
A service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 19, 2013 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
