“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18)
Conner Garett Barbee, beloved son, brother, grandson, great-grandson, nephew, cousin and friend was received into the arms of our Savior Jesus Christ on October 18th, 2013, forever relieved from all troubles and sorrow. Conner was born June 29, 2008 to Michael S. Barbee and Kara Smith Barbee in Abilene, Texas.
Conner had a gift for changing the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. With an ear to ear smile and soft coo’s, it was impossible to be near him and not share in his joy. He joined us in this life as a miracle and left as a miracle. From birth it was known that Conner’s time on earth would be short, but faith, love, and strength allowed him to live longer than anyone had imagined. Conner united a family in a way that is unexplainable and through him they gained a greater understanding of God’s glory.
Survivors include his parents, Michael and Kara Barbee of Hawley, Texas; sister, Claire Barbee of Hawley; paternal grandparents, Randy and Margarett Barbee of Hawley; great-grandmother, Mary Carter of Hawley; maternal grandparents, Courtney and Karen Pennington of Haslet, Texas; great-grandparents, Larry and Gayle Choate of Hamlin, Texas; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Hawley Church of Christ with Darrell Edwards officiating.
