Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt died Saturday, October 19.
Mimi was born March 1951 in Chicago, the daughter of Louise Nathanson Chapman and Marvin Sidney Chapman.
She graduated with distinction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1972 with a major in Anthropology. From 1972-1974 she taught English as a foreign language in Tunisian high schools (Lycees) through the U.S. Peace Corps, living and working in Sfax, Tunisia.
In 1974 she returned to the United States and received a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in 1975. After working for two years at the Toledo (OH) -Lucas County Public Library she returned to the Ann Arbor area to work at the Ypsilanti District Library where she spent the remainder of her professional career. She worked at the Downtown library, was Manager of the Peters Branch and the Roundtree Branch and then started the Acquisitions department at the Whittaker Road library in 1992.
In 1978 she married Dietmar Wagner and welcomed his daughter Jennifer into their new family. In 1984, their daughter Elizabeth was born and in 1990, their son Peter was born. They all survive, including Jennifer's husband Jim Thomson and their daughters Alexa and Victoria.
Mimi is also survived by her brother Andrew Henry, his wife Patricia and his children Dora, Jordan, Nathan, and Louise. She also leaves behind numerous close cousins, a wide circle of devoted friends, co-workers and professional colleagues.
Mimi's older sister Carol Esther predeceased her in December, 1960. She was also predeceased by her parents in 2000 and 2011.
Mimi was a lifelong lover and supporter of movies, music, opera, theater and dance. A voracious reader, she was also a passionate advocate of libraries. In addition she also generously supported a number of social, environmental and charitable causes.

A memorial celebration of Mimi's life will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 2;00 p.m. at the Ypsilanti District Library, 5577 Whittaker Rd,, Ypsilanti, Michigan.
