Daniel Brian Chandler, 72 of Mims, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at home surrounded by family and loved ones.
Dan was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was born September 21, 1941 in Corpus Cristi, Texas. He came to Brevard County in 1983 from Altamonte Springs where he grew up and went to school.
Dan went into the Air Force in 1959, serving in Germany, Japan and Tripoli for 8 years. He later transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve and worked full time as an Army Technician in The Orlando Aircraft Maintenance Support Activity. After transferring to NASA, he supported Space Shuttle operations as a Quality Assurance Specialist and was later promoted to a Quality Engineering Tech. position. He was awarded numerous Group Achievement and performance awards due to his dedication and expertise. Dan retired from NASA IN 1998.
Dan is survived by his wife, Eloise Redfern Chandler; sons, Brian and (Kristi) of Fairplay, MO, Michael of Rockledge; daughters, Michelle of Rockledge, Kristi and (Rick) Cullinan of Titusville; very special grandchildren, Zakk and Zoe of MO; sisters, Patricia Krone and Gail Chandler of Altamont Springs; and brother, Douglas of Orlando. He was predeceased by parents, Raymond E. and Georgia Chandler.
Calling hours will be Monday, 6 to 8pm at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, Services will be Tuesday October 29th, at 2:00pm at the Funeral Home, with burial following. Any donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Mims or to the Cancer Society .
