Brookey, James L., age 82, of Fairborn, OH passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Heartland of Beavercreek. James is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jacqueline , of Fairborn; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, James Michael and Lori, of CA, Gregory L. and Michelle, of IN, Thomas R. and Angela, of Beavercreek; 6 grandchildren, Erica Brookey, Chris Brookey, Kyle and wife, Lindsay Brookey, Taylor Brookey, Ashley and husband, Tyler Crawford, Lauren Brookey; 2 close friends, Larry Hall and Ed Ark. He is also survived by 2 nephews, 1 niece and several cousins. James attended Roosevelt High School and graduated from Kiser High School. He also attended the University of Dayton. He retired after 37 years of service from the Frigidaire Division of General Motors. He participated in many activities including, Chief of the Fairborn YMCA Indian Guides, Vice-President of the Fairborn Little League Baseball Association, was the Cub Master at the Fairborn Methodist Church and a Boy Scout leader. Mr. Brookey was a member of the Fairborn Lodge #764 F.& A.M., A.A.S.R., Valley of Dayton and the T.O.M.'s Club at Frigidaire. Above all, he was an avid Buckeye and Reds fan. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Fairfield Cemetery, 720 Clover Street, Fairborn, OH with Reverend David Faile officiating. The family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013.
