peacefully under the care of Hospice at her home on October 28, 2013 surrounded by
loving family. Ruth’s life began in Tipton, Mo where she met Ray the love of her life. After earning an associate degree from Central Missouri State and teaching for a short period of time, Ruth a true dedicated wife, followed Ray to Pensacola, FL where he earned his wings and became a naval fighter pilot. Ruth was the perfect navy wife, supporting Ray, raising 4 children and keeping a warm and loving home. In 1955 Ray embarked on an awesome 32 year career as an airline pilot for Trans World Airlines based out of JFK and Ruth was right there, the woman behind the successful man.
After retirement Ruth and Ray relocated to North Palm Beach – Palm Beach Gardens
where they enjoyed many years of boating, deep sea fishing and cruising around the
world making life long friends.
We will remember Ruth for her selfless devotion to her family. She was the source of wonderful memories that will remain in our hearts forever.
Ruth is survived by her 4 devoted children, Carol Hovland (Jerry) of Orlando, FL, Diane Lavin of Seattle, WA, Greg Schmidt (Frani) of North Palm Beach, FL and Donna Marsik (Jim) of Loganville, GA, her 6 grandchildren Katie Stewart(Cameron) and Jaclyn Landry (Jesse) both of Seattle, WA, Derek Marsik (Becca) of Jacksonville, FL, Dustin Marsik of Loganville, GA, Maddy and Olivia Schmidt of North Palm Beach, her 4 great grandchildren Bradley and Raleigh Marsik of Jacksonville, FL, Milo Landry and Chloe Stewart both of Seattle, WA, and her brother Gerald Lachner of Palisade, CO and sister Jane Edwards of Tipton, MO.
At Ruth's request, the family will conduct a private farewell ceremony.
