A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013, in Potosi Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Billy was born on July 18, 1929 to Earl G. Warren and Buna Mattie James Warren in Muleshoe, Texas. She became a Marine Corps wife when she married William R. “Blackie” Arrington in Abilene on December 25, 1946. They were stationed in California and North Carolina; but Billy came home to Abilene every time her husband was deployed overseas. They returned to Abilene permanently in 1975. She earned her liberal arts degree from Cisco Junior College. Billy worked for Grissoms/Dunlaps shoe department for nineteen years. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary in the ‘70’s.
Billy lived, loved, traveled, adventured……. and she wasn’t sorry.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William R. “Blackie” Arrington.
Survivors include two sons, Lewis W. Arrington and wife Virginia of Abilene, and C.Tom Arrington and wife Jeany Elson of Newmarket, New Hampshire; two grandchildren, James Arrington and partner Adam, and Amber Arrington, all of Austin, Texas; and extended family, Dusty Jackson and wife Sally of Acworth, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation, The Cooper Center, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, Virginia 22172-1776.
