Wilson, Cynthia (Cindy) L., born on July 25, 1941 in Chattanooga, Tennessee and passed away on November 2, 2013 after a long battle with Breast Cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. She graduated from Plant High School in 1959. She spent her entire career in the Criminal Justice Field, first with The Tampa Police Dept. She was the first Human Resource Director in the Public Defender's office and created a model program that was used throughout Florida. She was also employed by the State Attorney's Office and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. She served the Sheriff's office over 25 years, mainly in a volunteer capacity and was both an Honorary Deputy under Cal Henderson and David Gee. On two occasions she was named "Volunteer of the Year". She was also a member of the HCSO FOP Lodge 108 and served for 12 years as the FOPA President. She was on the Board of Directors of Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay, serving both as a volunteer and as an employee following her retirement. She also served 6 years as the Secretary for Florida Association of Crime Stoppers. Survivors include her daughter, Kelly Wilson Smith and son -in-law, Rick Smith of Brandon, her sister Diane Parrish and brother-in-law, Mark Campbell of Lexington, KY. and her two beautiful grandchildren, Bryan Langford and Rylie Smith of Brandon. She also leaves behind cousins and a host of wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Madelene Ooten of Chattanooga, TN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 5, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, at 10 AM both at Stowers Funeral Home, Brandon. Donations may be made in her honor to Breast Cancer Research or Crime Stoppers. Cindy will be deeply missed by her friends and family, but will live on in their hearts and memories.
