Robert Sidney Bagg, age 82, of Whitesburg, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Harold and Helen Bagg. He spent his formative years in Baltimore. He enlisted in the US Army, where he received the rank of Corporal. He served with the 869th Medical Company, where he was a medic in Germany. He received the Army Occupation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. After an honorable discharge, Bob married Bernice Taylor and raised four children. He worked at Sears and Roebuck until moving to Tennessee, where he worked at Lear Seigler until he retired. He was passionate about flying model airplanes with his son. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather (Pop), and also great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Bagg; parents, Harold and Helen Bagg; and brother, Tommy Bagg. He is survived by his daughters, Darlene (John) Dorton, Debbie (Brad) Blair, Donna (Ronnie) Purkey; son, Robert (Kelly) Bagg Jr.; grandchildren, Wendy (Ronnie) Shelton, Bradley (Julia) Purkey, and Lindsey Bowlin; great-grandchildren, Bailey Purkey, Katlyn, Keirsten, and Christopher Ramsey, Devin Shelton, and Makenzie and Tyler Quick; sisters, Thelma Stafford of PA, Ruth Smith of Baltimore, MD; brother, Junior Bagg of PA; special friend and caregiver, Lisa Taylor; and his dog, Memphis. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Odell Davidson and Rev. Kenny Fields officiating. Family and friends will meet in Hamblen Memory Gardens on Thursday at 1:45 p.m. for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post #5266. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening prior to the services. Stubblefield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
