Arthur E. Marshburn passed away peacefully the evening of October 13, 2013, at the age of 93. He was predeceased five days earlier by his wife of 71 years, Carol M. Marshburn. Art was born in Dinuba, CA, graduated from Whittier College, and married Carol before serving in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific. When Art left for the War, Carol was pregnant, and Art was not aware of his twin sons for many weeks after they were born, thinking the message of "Son Born" sent twice was just to get through the static. Following the War, Art received a Master’s Degree in Meteorology from Cal Tech, for the training he had received there earlier. His career was as a physics instructor, first at Santa Monica High School and then for many years at Santa Monica College. He retired as Dean of the Mathematics and Science Division. After living for 54 years in Topanga Canyon, Art and Carol moved to the SunnyView Retirement Community in Cupertino, where they lived for the last 13 years. Art was always active in church and service organizations, serving for many years as the treasurer of First Presbyterian Church of Santa Monica. Art is remembered fondly for his wit and his genuine gratitude for those who helped him. Please see the website below for Arthur and Carol's photos and condolences. A Memorial service is being held at Sat., Nov. 16, 4pm at Covenant Presbyterian
