Born in Fall River, a son of the late Chester E. Ryder, Sr. and Ora (Simmons) Ryder, he resided in Somerset most of his life, moving to Swansea upon his retirement.
Mr. Ryder worked for Montaup Electric for over 35 years and was a longtime Mason. A United States Navy Veteran, he served in the Pacific during World War II and was a member of the Congregational Christian Church of Somerset.
Surviving in addition to his wife: a son; Chester E. Ryder, III and his wife Sally of Dracut, MA, and one granddaughter; Casey L. Ryder of So. Royalton, VT. He was brother of the late Phyllis Martin.
