Jack Scott, 83, of Dimondale, Michigan, passed away Monday, December 2, 2013. He was born on February 19, 1930 in Greenfield, TN to James and Novella (Marcus) Scott. Jack served bravely in the Medical Corps in the Korean Conflict, earning the Bronze Star. He was employed at Michigan Supply Company as an Operations Manager for 42 years.
He was preceded in death by his children Cathy Chadwell, Jackie Stewart, and Steve Scott. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Carlene (Penrose); daughter, Jane (Ed) Nickels of Perrinton; son, Patrick Scott of East Lansing; daughter-in-law, Ann Scott of Dayton, OH; grandchildren: Aaron Nickels, Heather Scott, Elizabeth Stewart, Dane McCafferty, and Kellie Stewart; great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Allen; close niece, Barbra Bottecher, as well as many other extended family members. Carlene, Jane, Ed and Patrick also wish to extend special thanks to Gary and Nancy Penrose and to Eaton Community Palliative Care for their compassion during Jack’s final days.
Jack was an avid supporter of Michigan State athletics. He also had a deep, abiding affection for his many dogs that were part of the family through the years.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Lansing Chapel.
