Nonie Cone went to be with her precious Lord on December 3, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Tacoma, WA on August 1, 1928. She was raised by her loving grandparents after being abandoned as an infant by her parents. She loved her grandparents dearly and never felt bitter by her start to life. Nonie is preceded in death by her beautiful daughter, Teresa Maureen Cone in 1955, and husband Alonzo Clyde Cone in 2011. With great anticipation she has now joined them in heaven.
Clyde and Nonie met at the USO in San Diego, California and were married two weeks later on January 19, 1946 in Santa Ana, CA. They were married for 65 years. From their marriage came 5 children; Chris Crainer, (Everett) of Churchill, TX, Teresa deceased at 7 years of age in 1955, Steve Cone (Stephanie) of Richwood, TX, John Cone (Robin) of Lake Jackson, TX, Matt Cone (Melissa) of Churchill, TX. Clyde and Nonie's family continues to grow with grandchildren; Theresa and Tracy Brooks, Eric and Jennifer Crainer, Andrew and Gabriella Cone, Michael Cone, Brandon Cone, Elizabeth and Chad Tipps and Lauren and Ryan Crew. Great grandchildren; Taylor Nonie Brooks, Austin Crainer, Blair Cone, Leah Cone. Cort Tipps, and Jackson Crew.
Nonie was the glue of the Cone family. She was a loving sister, mother, wife, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She started one of the first nursery schools in Lake Jackson. Helped begin the first Brownie Troop in Lake Jackson. Nonie was a businesswoman, philanthropist, and artist. As a breast cancer survivor she volunteered with Outreach and counseled many women. Nonie was an active member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. Nonie’s life motto is JOY (Jesus, Others, You).
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. Services will be held at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Lake Jackson with Andrew and Elizabeth Parker officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a charitable donation to St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church or the SPCA in Lake Jackson, TX.
