John J. Bosnak, 85, of Old Saybrook, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a long illness on December 2, 2013. John was born September 2, 1928, in Brinkerton, PA, to the late John Bosnak and Mary (Liga) Bosnak. John was employed for many years as the Chief Engineer at Whelen Engineering Co., and was the holder of 4 patents for electronic emergency warning systems. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy as a signalman aboard the U.S.S Adirondack.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Tesse) Bosnak, daughter Mary Ann Champion, granddaughter Kristen Champion, brother and sister-in-law George and Angela Bosnak, brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Donna Bosnak as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. John was predeceased by brothers Peter Bosnak and Nicholas Bosnak and sisters Sonia Attanasio, Marie Maloney, Susan Falco and Helen Shultz.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Middlesex Hospice Unit for their care and support, and special thanks to Bertha, Mama and Mike for their wonderful and loving care. Relatives and friends may join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11am at St. John Church Old Saybrook (Please meet at church). Burial with full military honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Westbrook. Swan’s Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd. Old Saybrook is handling arrangements.
