Robert Lowell Selvey, 88, a native of Phoenix, passed away on December 7 following a lengthy illness. Mr. Selvey is survived by his five children: Phyliss McDaniel, Jane Simpson, Cathy Patty, Dr. Don Selvey and Dean Selvey, eleven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, the former Bessie Imogene Spurlock.
Mr. Selvey was retired from Chas. Roberts Air Conditioning, where he worked for 31 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who frequently hunted big and small game throughout Arizona, and loved boating, fishing, riding ATVs and hiking in remote areas. As a young man, he built racing engines used in some of the early racecars at PIR.
Mr. Selvey served with distinction in the US Navy in WWII. He saw combat in the south pacific, participating in 17 invasions, for which he was awarded medals for the American Theater, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater with five bronze stars.
A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, December 11 at 2:00 pm at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W. Northern, Glendale, Arizona.
