Mr. Cook was born February 25, 1928, son of the late Farris Cook and Ruby Hestley Cook. He was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square and the Lion’s Club. Mr. Cook attended the University of Georgia and the University of Oklahoma and was a U.S. Army War World II veteran. Mr. Cook was employed with Yellow Freight System as a Terminal Manager before retiring. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Lou James Cook and a daughter, Pama Jo McMillen.
Survivors include three children, Mike Bush and her husband Bill Bush, Bill Cook and his wife Liz Cook, and Jim Cook and his wife Pam Cook; two siblings, Della Hairston and Jeanne Long; grandchildren, Rich Shuman, Robbie Hendricks, Matt Bush, Katie Willis, Suzie Cook, Randi Cook, Dusty Cook, Taylor Cook, and Jordan Cook; great grandchildren, Ashley Shuman, Trey Hendricks, Brady Willis, Emma Cook, Colt Willis, Ezra Cook, and Chipper Willis; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at First Baptist Church on the Square with Dr. Paul Baxter, Rev. Paul Blair, and Rev. Matt Bush officiating. The gathering of family and friends will be this evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
