Angela Alsing, 85 of Phoenix, Arizona passed away peacefully on December 15, 2013, with several of her children at her side. She was born to Michael and Melina Garofalo on August 2, 1928 in Queens, New York. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Alsing, son Michael Alsing and daughter Dolores Henderer. She is survived by her children, Veronica Maloney of New Jersey, Christopher Alsing of Fresno, California, Paul Alsing of Chittenango, New York, Peter Alsing of Austin, Texas, Frances Marcus, Steven Alsing and Margaret Koller, all of Phoenix, Arizona; and nine grandchildren, Veronica and William Maloney, Keith and Shaun Alsing, Rachel and Sarah Alsing, Rory Henderer Jr., and Derek and Melina Koller. Angela was very active in the Catholic ministry and knitted hats, gloves and afghans for those in need. She played piano and loved Italian operas, her favorite being Aida, and greatly enjoyed attending live performances. There will be a wake held at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 East Greenway Road, Phoenix, Arizona on Friday, December 20, at 9:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 3801 E. Greenway Road, Phoenix, Arizona.
Per her wishes to be interred with her husband, son, and daughter back in New Jersey we will host a celebratory remembrance in the Spring of 2014. We will have a service for her at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ at a date to be announced later.
