Charlotte Alice Kimm, beloved aunt, died Saturday the 14th of December 2013, at the age of 97. Born in Iowa City, Iowa on the 20th of February 1916, she was the daughter of Bessie Steffa and Rudolph David Kimm. Charlotte was raised in Blairstown, Iowa and graduated from Blairstown High School in 1933 where she was an outstanding student and talented orchestra member. She attended the University of Iowa and graduated in 1938 receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree with High Distinction.
Charlotte earned the designation of Certified Professional Secretary in 1955 applying her sharp mind, attention to detail and highly professional demeanor to positions with the University of Iowa, Tennessee Valley Authority, Wright Field, Civil Aeronautics Administration (1945 – 1955) and El Paso Natural Gas from 1955 until retirement.
Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Kathryn Kimm Rieke, Charlotte is survived by her niece Marian Rieke Naber, nephews Robert David Rieke and Marc Kimm Rieke and grand nieces and nephews: Kimm, Michael, Courtney, Robert, Leslie, Brian and Laura and numerous great nieces and nephews.
An avid golfer, Charlotte stayed fit throughout her life even after retirement teaching aerobics at the YMCA in El Paso. Fiercely independent and proud of her accomplishments, this unique, diminutive lady was loved and respected by her family, friends and caregivers.
The family would like to thank Charlotte’s caregivers for their love, companionship and attention especially the loyal service of Joann Stevens, Pauline Taylor and Shanese Conner who loved and were loved by Charlotte.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Charlotte’s memory may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
