Jack B. Miller, 84, of Smithville, Texas, passed away peacefully with his family, Pastor and close friends by his side on Friday, December 13, in Houston, Texas. Born on December 28, 1928 in Houston to Ben F. Miller and Ruby S. Rollins, Jack graduated from Lamar High School in 1946 and received a basketball scholarship to Texas A&M where he graduated in 1950 with a degree in Architecture. He was a point guard on the team and was known as “The Diminutive Dribbler”. His love for Texas A&M University, its Corps of Cadets, its tradition and camaraderie, has followed him through all of his business and personal endeavors throughout his lifetime.
His career in and passion for golf gave him many joyous memories and lifelong friendships. Jack's devotion to the Christian faith and continuous work as an Elder in the First Christian Church of Smithville guided him in all aspects of his life. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dale Miller, and his son Justin Miller. He is survived by his three children, Sharon Walker, Ellen Vick, and Josh Miller; his son-in-law Johnny Walker; his grandchildren T.J. Harkness and wife Molly, Clint Harkness and wife Codi, and Katherine Vick; and his great-grandchildren Hailey, Clay, Blayne, Presley and Nathan; many beloved nephews, nieces and cousins. Not to be forgotten are his four-legged grandchildren Toolo and Mike-E. Services are to be held at First Christian Church in Smithville, Texas on December 28th at 11am with ceremonial burial of ashes to follow.
