GW was born in the front room of his grandmother's house in New Iberia, LA, he lived in Port Arthur, Tx and later moved to Houston. He was in the first graduating class of Austin High School. He served in the Navy during WW2 in the South Pacific. He returned proud that he had no tattoos and never stepped on a ship again. He preferred not to talk about the hard times, but remember the good times and never complained. He attended UH and received a bachelors degree in engineering. He retired from Shell Oil company where he was an engineer at Deer Park for 35 years. He liked to tell you that he was the first person to drive the 610 loop. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He met his wife, Mary Catherine Ellis George, on a blind date, they married and were blessed with 10 children.
GW is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Ellis George and son, Robert George.
He is survived by his one brother David Lloyd george and nine children - Darryl and Cindy George, Julia and Marc Dove, Barbara and Jerry Dilley, John George, Jimmy and Phyllis George, Danny and Vicki George, Sharon and Brooks McLaurin, Byron and Annette George, Ronny and Maike George, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
