Francis Clayton Bennett, 84, of Odessa passed away December 22, 2013 at Hospice House. He was born February 15, 1929 to Dr. Francis Clayton Bennett Sr. and Billie Lee Filgo in Monroe, LA.
He served in the Army from October 1950 until May 1972. He was an Army Aviator and flew both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. He also worked for Ross Aviation as a pilot instructor and MTU in Germany assembling jet engines and doing nondestructive testing on engine parts. He was an avid sailplane pilot.
He is survived by his goddaughter Carol Webster and husband Tim of Hendersonville, TN, close friends Col. and Mrs. Russell Baugh of Hendersonville, TN, as well as numerous friends at Sherwood Place Assisted Living and in the soaring community.
A private memorial service is to be held at a later date.
