He was born in Martinsburg, WV on March 9, 1948 a son to the late Lester and Agnes (Fredman) Michael. As a child Rodney and his family relocated to East Stroudsburg where he later graduated from East Stroudsburg High School class of 1966. He continued his education at the then College of St Francis in Center Valley, PA; where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in finance. Rodney began his working career as an East Stroudsburg Borough police officer, until he obtained a position with PNC bank managing there Pen Argyl, Mt. Pocono, East Stroudsburg, and Milford locations, and retiring as Assistant Vice President. Wanting to stay active Rodney most recently was employed by the East Stroudsburg School District as a bus driver.
Rodney was a member of the First Baptist Church, East Stroudsburg, was past President of the Stroudsburg Lions Club, and enjoyed reading, bible study, and doing home remodeling projects. He was a very knowledgeable about any subject and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving is his wife of 31 years Patricia J. Michael; at home in Henryville, daughters, Cheryl Walsh and her husband James of Silverthorne, CO; and Julia Neiring and her husband Peter of Cresco; brothers, L. Gregory Michael and his wife Sharon of Zionsville; and Donald and his wife Judy of Stroudsburg; two grandchildren, Graiden, Quinten, Deana and Seth; cousin, Sandy Pansy and her husband John of Saylorsburg; and many other cousins and extended family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 28, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Baptist Church, 160 North Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg with his pastor Rev. David Cornell officiating. Interment will follow in Laurelwood Cemetery Bryant Street, Stroudsburg.
A gathering from family and friends will be held on Saturday December 28, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the VNA Hospice of Monroe County @ 412 East Brown Street, East Stroudsburg.
