Danny was born Aug. 13, 1956 in Atikokan, Ont., where he spent most of his life.
In 1982, he met and married the love of his life, Avis Reashore. Together they had two children, Keith and Alacia.
Danny worked at a variety of jobs over his lifetime; most recently driving school bus for Iron Range Bus Lines. He also owned and operated Dan’s Shuttle Service, which was, for Danny, for the benefit and safety of the people of Atikokan.
For the last few years, he also was the custodian for the Bunnell Park municipal campground.
As anyone who knew Danny knew, he loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping—all with his many friends—and was a member of The Nightmares lob ball team.
Danny also loved his community and served it well while volunteering with many of its organizations. Special Olympics Atikokan was very dear to his heart.
He will be especially missed by the students of Atikokan who rode the bus when he was the driver.
Danny had a keen sense of humour, a kind heart, and a big smile. He made friends easily and will be missed by many.
Danny was predeceased by his parents, Keith and Elizabeth (Betty); and his infant brother, David.
He is survived by his wife, Avis; son, Keith (Lisa); daughter, Alacia; and his three grandchildren, Albert, Chase, and the joy of his life, his granddaughter, Averi.
He also is survived by his mother-in-law, Rose Reashore; father-in-law, Gil Reashore; brothers-in-law, Todd Reashore (Brenda, Ashley, Josh, and Ethan), Kyle Reashore, and Troy Reashore (Maria); many cousins; and his constant companion, his furry buddy, Gotcha.
A memorial service and celebration of Danny’s life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Atikokan.
If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made at any branch of TD Canada Trust to the account “In Trust for the Family of Danny Henderson.”
