Cremation rites will be accorded with a Memorial Service on January 25th at 3 pm at Westminister Village.The Rev. Camilla Hempstead will officiate.

Marshall was born on February 22, 1920, at Evanston Hospital in Evanston, IL, a son of Vincent Berquist Johnson and Norma Olson Johnson. He married Shirley Fae Shedore on December 7, 1946 in Evanston. Survivors, include 2 daughters, Mary Johnson Bible, Bloomington, IL and Gail (Steve) Johnson Vandevender, Bloomington IL; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Bible, Bloomington, IL; Bryan Marshall Vandevender, Oshkosh, WI; and Emily Anne Vandevender, Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving in-laws, Thomas and Irma Shedore, and wife, Shirley.
Marshall attended Evanston Township High School and graduated in 1938. During World War II he served in the U.S. Marine Corps starting in August 1942, part of which he served in Saipan-Tinian, Marianas Islands, Gilbert Islands, Tarawa, Okinawa, and the Ryukyu Islands. As many of our soldiers, Marshall was awarded a purple heart and ended his enlistment in November 1945.
He attended night classes at Northwestern University in Evanston. Marshall then worked in Petroleum Product Sales for over 32 years and for a few years was the House Chair of the Chicago Oil Men’s Club. He took early retirement in 1982 and worked part-time at Golf Shops in Morton Grove and Deerfield, IL. He and his wife Shirley were members of Glenview Community Church since 1958 and long time members of the Suburbanites, a dinner and dancing social club. Marshall was an avid golfer and a member of the Pickwick Golf Club at Glenview Naval Air Station.
After 43 years in Glenview, IL, Marshall and Shirley moved to Westminster Village in Bloomington, IL, on the eve of their 50th wedding anniversary in 1996. Marshall will fondly be remembered for his gentlemanly demeanor and well-dressed appearance.
