In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Joseph Donald Davis, Sr. Wallace Jayhugh Davis, Walter McKinley Davis Jr., Jack Davis and two sisters Dorothy Davis Walker and Barbara Davis Wallace.
Jon was a member of Central Advent Christian Church of Lenoir.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Libby Ann Gibbs Davis; son, Jon R. Davis Jr.; two daughters, Sherry Davis Shook and husband Tom, Kimberly Davis Jenkins and husband Tony and two brothers Jeffery Lynn Davis and James Bryan Davis
He is also survived by five grandchildren, Thomas Shook and wife Amy, Kelly Shook Leggette and husband Chris, Jon Michael Shook, Megan Jenkins Childress and husband Bo, TJ Jenkins and wife Morgan; four great-grandchildren, Marley and Cooper Childress, Trey Jenkins, Harper Shook and a number of nieces and nephews.
Jon Davis touched a lot of people during his journey in life, with his service as a police officer in Winston Salem, Superintendent at Davis Wood Products, Lenoir Senior League Coach for 25 years, and a school bus driver for Granite Falls Middle School. Jon was loved by many.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM at Central Advent Christian Church. A memorial service will be held in the church sanctuary at 12:30 PM with Rev. Ed Neal and Rev. Floyd Boston officiating. Burial will follow at Belleview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Caldwell County or Central Advent Christian Church in Lenoir.
