Dirk R. Patriarca, 71, passed away January 30th 2014 in Providence, Rhode Island.
Born September 14th 1942 in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of Domenico and Rhea (Desy) Patriarca.
Dirk attended Lasalle Academy, Notre Dame College, and MIT. He founded an auto drive away business in college and later joined his father's firm, Patriarca Manufacturing, where he patented a new type of modular store fixture. Dirk transitioned from manufacturing into the real estate business and had an early vision of downtown Providence's renaissance. Over the past 40 years he was a restaurateur, hotelier, marina operator and real estate investor and developer. He was also an avid pilot and yachtsman who spent much of his time in Key West, Florida and the Caribbean.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Gail Patriarca Salvini. He leaves behind Claire Giannamore, his partner of 43 years, his nieces Robin and Karen Salvini, and one son, Dack Patriarca of Palm Beach, Florida.
