Paul Myron Emmons, 87, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina and formerly of Lanham, Maryland, died on Monday, February 10, 2014. Paul was born on July 26, 1926 in Cortland, New York to the late Ralph and Ellen Emmons. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Genevieve, and children, Mary Yarrington, Joe Emmons, Jim Emmons, Mark Emmons and Christine Chappell. Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive him. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Lewis Emmons. Paul was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School in Binghamton, New York and Catholic University of America in Washington, D. C. He served with pride in the United States navy during World War II. He applied his Electrical Engineering degree in a distinguished career in Telecommunications Systems Engineer at NASA in Greenbelt, Maryland in support of the early manned space missions and with the National Communication System. He was devoted to God, his family, and his Catholic faith. The Emmons family will receive friends at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland 20715 on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am, Monday, February 17, 2014 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Road, West River, Maryland. Interment will follow at St. James' Parish Cemetery, Lothian, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
