Johnnie is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) E. Lamkin of Tallahassee; two daughters: Laura Kelley and husband Terry Kelley of Cairo, G, and Gayle Lamkin of Tallahassee,Fl; three grandchildren: Megan, Jordan, and Chase. She was preceded in death by her parents John G. Gruber and Della Mae Dykes Gruber of Alma, GA and a daughter Lisa Thrower of Jacksonville, FL.
After raising her family, Johnnie earned a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education and taught kindergarten for 27 years in Glynn County, GA and in Thomas County, GA. She dearly loved teaching and received her reward by knowing she had touched the eager minds of so many little children. She continued to share a sweet gentle smile as a member of Thomasville Road Baptist Church. Here she taught Sunday School and sang with the Senior Adult Choir. She gave of herself where ever she saw a need. She was so easy to love.
The family wishes to thank the care staff and residents at Allegro, the kind people from Big Bend Hospice and countless friends who made the heavenly transition so beautiful.
