SHREVEPORT, LA – Services to honor the life of Robert Meredith, 88, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Eakin assisted by Rev. Randy Riley. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Tuesday evening from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Robert was born September 10, 1925, in Erose, KY and passed away on February 22, 2014. He served his country in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1968. Robert was a WW II Veteran, 82nd Airborne, veteran of the Korean Conflict, veteran of the Vietnam War, and a recipient of the Bronze Star. Upon retirement he began his service for the Lord as a Pastor, both locally and out of state in evangelism. Robert spent his life as a servant; for his country, for his Lord, and for his family. He will be deeply missed!
Robert is survived by his wife, Lucille “Lucy” Meredith; son, Robert J. Meredith of Shreveport; step-daughters, Emma Lou Ward and Mary Quarles, both of Many, LA, and Kathryn Horn of Shreveport; step-sons, Michael Bell of Florien, LA, and James Bell of Many, LA; numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; brothers, Raymond Meredith and wife, Mary of Shreveport, and Frank Meredith and wife, Janice of Bedford Heights, OH; sisters, Opal Wilmoth and Jean Foy, both of Indianapolis, IN, and Mildred Taylor of Kokomo, IN.
Serving as pallbearers are Scotty Jackson, John Wynn, Jr., John Wesley Wynn, Alex Bell, Matt Ward, and son-in-law, Jack Horn.
