After attending Leon High School, Gloria went to work at Centel/Sprint where she worked as a telephone operator until her retirement. She was a dedicated member of Four Square Baptist Church. Gloria was passionate about her writing and flowers, and was known for having a “green thumb”. She is best remembered for being a very giving person. She was a mother to her entire neighborhood and was always there as a friend ready to help anyone who was in need.
Gloria was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert L. Broome, Jr.; and her siblings, Joyce Malphurs Kelly, Fredrick Malphurs, C.J. Malphurs, Katharine Malphurs, and Helen Malphurs Arledge.
She is survived by her sons: James (Ann) Jones of Milton, Florida, Robert (Sherri) L. Broome III of Paradise, California, William (Angela) Broome of Tallahassee, Florida, John D. Broome of Tallahassee, Florida; 12 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
A visitation will be held tonight at Culley’s MeadowWood Timberlane Road Chapel from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, followed by a celebration of her life at 6:00pm. Burial will take place on Tuesday, March 4th at 2:00pm at Brushy Creek Cemetery in Ocilla, GA.
