When she was 12 the family moved to Labish area to raise onions. Frances met Rudolph deVries, a farmer from Pratum, while attending a Sunday School picnic at Hazel Green. They were married June 19, 1934. They lived and farmed in the Pratum area. Rudolph preceded her in death in 1986.
Frances is survived by her sons, Gene (Polly) deVries, of Salem, OR and Lee (Charlotte) deVries, of Crawfordsville, OR. Grandchildren Tyson (Amy) deVries, Belfair, WA, Shannon (Tina) deVries, Salem, OR, Becky (Tim) Wong, Redmond, WA and 6 great grandchildren.
Frances was a homemaker, a hard worker and strived for excellence in all she did. She enjoyed music and played the piano during church services for many years. She attended Emmanuel Bible Church in Pratum until entering Lancaster Village in 2009.
The family wants to thank the staff and management at Lancaster Village for their wonderful, kind care of Mother the last 4 1/2 years. We also want to thank Willamette Valley Hospice for your kindness and concern. You have a special ministry.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Union Gospel Mission or Willamette Valley Hospice.
A Memorial Service will be held March 13, at 2:00pm at Emmanuel Bible Church, in Pratum. Frances is in the care of Howell Edward Doerksen with Rigdon Ransom Funeral Directors.
