Richard Edward Karrol, 82, of Greeley, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Kenton Manor. Richard was born Vladislav Stanislavovich Karolkevich on April 28, 1931 in Teheran, Iran to Lithuanian parents Stanley and Alexandra Pavlovna (Laputzava) Karrol. He received his US citizenship on August 2, 1954.
Richard met his future wife Natalia Svetlov while they lived at Camp Schleissheim, a camp for displaced persons, in Germany after WW2. On January 22, 1956, he married her in Santa Barbara, California.
Richard served in the US Air Force 1951-1955. He worked at IBM for 33 years and was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed photography, big family meals, animals, and being a gentleman farmer.
Richard is survived by his children, Michael (Diane) Karrol of Portland, Oregon, Alex Karrol of Greeley, Helen Paul of Greeley and Margaret “Maya” (Rich) Reeve of Rhinebeck, New York and his grandchildren, Hailey Karrol, Justin (Heather) Karrol, Taylor Karrol, Nicholas Karrol, Rebecca (Devon) Sigleer, Sarah Paul and Lance Paul and great-grandchildren, Jace Karrol and Ashlynn Sigleer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Natalia, infant brother and his parents.
Funeral Service will be held in Garden of Honor at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Friday, March 14th at 1:00 pm
